• Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed a positive and forward-looking relationship with the U.S., marking his first such statement since strained ties over trade, tariffs, and Operation Sindoor.
• Modi praised Trump’s remarks, stating he “deeply appreciated and fully reciprocated” the positive assessment.
• The two leaders have not spoken directly since a telephone call on June 17, after India-U.S. trade talks broke down and the U.S. imposed 25% tariffs on Indian goods and a 25% penalty for India’s purchase of Russian oil.
