Unemployment Rate Dips to 5.2% in July in India

• The government’s Periodic Labour Force Survey shows a 0.4% decrease in unemployment rate from 5.6% in June to 5.2% in July.

• Women’s Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR) increased from 24.5% in June to 25.5% in July.

• Men’s LFPR stood at 57.4%, while all persons’ LFPR was 41.4%.

• The gender gap in LFPR was noted, with rural males of age 15 years and above at 78.1% and rural females at 36.9%.

• Unemployment rate for persons aged 15 years and above was 5.2%, with rural areas at 4.4% and urban areas at 7.2%.

• The Worker Population Ratio (WPR) for persons aged 15 years and above in rural areas was 54.4%, 0.8 percentile points higher than June.

• The Labour Bureau surveyed 89,505 households, with the number of persons surveyed being 3,79,222.
